BENGALURU: After Google’s Nexus and Moto devices, LG G3 was the next in the line to receive the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Now there are reports about the update reaching India and it seems like LG has already started rolling it out via its PC tool.
Since the release of Lollipop update in South Korea and in many European countries, it was rumoured that LG would roll out the update for G3 in India before the end of the year.
A report in DigiPassion says that the new Lollipop for LG G3 is sized 1.5 GB and it updates 13 inbuilt apps along with adding some new features such as new lock screen notification, improved animation, a color inversion feature and a new task manager.
However, features like ART Runtime environment and support for 64 Bit apps will not work for LG G3 as it is powered by a 32 Bit Qualcomm Snapdragon processor which doesn’t support 64 bit applications.
The first few countries to receive the Lollipop update for LG devices were Austria, the Baltics, Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Spain and the UK.
Sony tweeted today that they will launch the Lollipop update for premium smartphones Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2, but only sometime early next year.
Other smartphone manufactures like Samsung and Motorola have already updated some of their premium devices like Samsung Galaxy S5 and Moto X with the latest Lollipop OS. It is expected that the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC will release the Lollipop update for HTC One M7 and HTC One M8 during the first quarter of 2015.
