NEW YORK: Neeta Bhasin, President and CEO of ASB Communications and Event Guru Inc., has been included in the New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer’s Advisory Council on Economic Growth through Diversity and Inclusion.
The mission of the council is to develop innovative ideas and approaches that will result in increased opportunities and greater success for minority and women-owned business enterprises (MWBEs) in the public sector.
To accelerate the inclusion of diverse firms in public and private sector, Stringer reached out to leaders from government, corporate, academia and advocacy organizations, according to a press release by ASB Communications.
Bhasin was one of the individuals that Stringer reached out to become a member of his advisory council on Economic Growth through Diversity and Inclusion. Bhasin, along with other members of this council, will be advising the Comptroller on how to improve agency performance, increase transparency of city agencies and improve data entry to identify M/WBE contracts.
In addition to focusing on boosting procurement opportunities for M/WBEs in the public sector, the council is also focusing on improving diversity in corporate America, from the boardroom to the factory floor to the supply chains.
Bhasin also plans on assisting Stringer and his office in organizing educational seminars for South Asian business owners, where they can learn how to apply for public and private sector contracts.
New York City has over 403,000 minority-owned and approximately 305,000 women-owned firms – by far the largest and most diverse clustering of such businesses in the United States.
