FB’s acquisition of WhatsApp tops the list.

WASHINGTON, DC: 2014 has been a dynamic year for major technology companies. Both consumer-based players such as Facebook and Google and enterprise-specific brands such as SAP and Oracle have spent billions to acquire other companies to expand their market holds.
Here is a look at the 10 largest acquisitions within the tech industry from the past year:
Facebook acquires WhatsApp — $22 billion
In February Facebook originally agreed to purchase mobile messaging app WhatsApp for $19 billion. When the deal was finalized in October, the price tag had increased to $22 billion due to a rise in Facebook stock value. The deal stands as the second most expensive tech acquisition of all time.
