MUMBAI: The finale of the three-day Pune Fashion Week extravaganza from December 19-21 gave way to some edgy, dynamic and vogue setting designers to showcase their remarkable collections sheathed by sizzling models.
The evening witnessed a galaxy of attendees from various genres – including actors, socialites, designers, buyers and entrepreneurs.
There was also an official launch of “Face of India 2015” – a brainchild of the enterprising Badal Saboo, Managing Director, Pune Fashion Week and Shi Huan Kim, International Cooperation Director, Korea Model Association, based in Seoul. The platform would help aspiring and professional models to explore opportunities in South Korea as well as other Asian countries.
Saboo said in a statement, “It is indeed our pleasure to host the grand season five of Pune Fashion Week. As a property, we have evolved over the years in terms of our offering to the crème de la creme of the city. The first four seasons of PFW was spent building up the presence and international design exposure to our audiences. In Season five, we are stepping up to showcase the superlatives in creativity by celebrated designers of the industry with a mesmerizing experience to cherish which is bound to be one of the history creators for the fashion scene is Pune.’’
Anjali Khushalani commenced the evening show. With an aim of designing from prêt a porter to custom ethnic couture, the designer truly believes that in the art and craft of design, “God is in the details.” Stunning Sonal Chauhan graced the runway as the show stopper for Khushalani.
It was followed by Sharad Raghav, who has an artistic mind and a flair for creativity. He delineates his design philosophy as “Sui Generis Personalized Perfection”.
Joy Mitra’s collection ‘The Music Room’ was inspired by one of the greatest auteurs of world cinema, Satyajit Ray’s historic movie ‘Jalsaghar’. The designer brought out the old world charm garbed in modernity; antiquity and vintage look fused with a contemporary twist. The original music of Ray’s movies in harmony brought about a complete marriage between the old and new to the collection parade.
Another designer showcased was one of India’s foremost couturiers Suneet Varma. His is a name that immortalizes glamor and timeless style. Meticulous craftsmanship, a strong design sensibility and an undying love for sartorial research has made the Varma brand exude fantasy, sexy sophistication and unadulterated femininity for the woman of today.
Apart from fashion shows, people enjoyed an arena exhibition, wine and cheese fest, grape stomping and much more at the meet. The after party at Pubtown was a chock-a-bloc event of glamorous personalities, and brought a sensational weekend of fashion festivities for Pune and Mumbai’s fashion conscious-elite to an end.
