BENGALURU: After the success of Vibe X2 in India, Lenovo is planning to write yet another success story, but this time they are aiming at the low budget segment, which is currently dominated by makers like Xiaomi, Micromax and its subsidiary Yu.
The Chinese manufacturer, who in the beginning of 2014 bought major shares of Motorola from Google, has said that they are planning to announce the launch of a Snapdragon 410 based 4G LTE device during the Consumer Electronic Show 2015 (CES) that is scheduled to start on January 6 in Las Vegas.
The yet to be named device is expected to put a strong fight against rivals Xiaomi Redmi Note and Yu Yureka. The device will have a competitive price that cannot go beyond Rs. 9,999 ($157) as the other smartphones are priced in between Rs. 8,999 ($141) and 9,999 ($157).
The device is expected to make its entry to India via e-commerce website Flipkart soon after debuting in the CES 2015 and will be made available during the time Amazon commences the sale of Yu Yureka.
Lenovo has also announced the launch of a 5-inch smartphone named K3, which also is powered by Snapdragon 410 processor. This device has an 8 MP rear camera with Sony Sensor and a 2 MP front camera. Lenovo K3 runs on the customized Android version of Lenovo, Vide UI. The device is backed up by a 23000 mAh battery and is priced at Rs. 9,999 ($157). One of the let downs of the device is its lack of RAM, which Lenovo has restricted to 1 GB. Also, the device features Lenovo’s Waves MaxxAudio technology and 16GB inbuilt storage with microSD card support.
Hopefully, the yet be announced device should feature at least 2 GB RAM as its competitors Xiaomi Redmi Note and Yu Yureka has maintained the standard of having at least 2 GB to run heavy applications seamlessly.
