BENGALURU: OnePlus has released an alpha version of its customized Android Lollipop ROM, which is likely to replace Cyanogen Operating System (OS) in OnePlus One.
Recently, after running into patent issues with Micromax over Cyanogen OS, the Chinese manufacturer had announced that the company will develop an alternative OS to replace Cyanogen in the beginning of this year and that the company was working on an alpha version of the same. They had also requested fans to name the custom ROM.
The newly released ROM is a very early version and doesn’t contain any extra highlights other than the stock features of Android Open Source Project (ASOP) Lollipop.
According to the official forum of OnePlus, the company is looking forward to release the stable version of the custom ROM in the near future, and they also promises that it will be customizable, glitch-free and easy to use OS, just like stock-Android.
OnePlus has asked users to download the alpha version of the ROM manually from its website as over-the-air update will be only available once OnePlus release a stable build some time in February this year.
Even as OnePlus requests users to evaluate the Alpha version by flashing their devices they also remind users that any issues resulting from doing so are not covered under the warranty.
