BENGALURU: Samsung has been talking about the launch of their indigenously developed Tizen OS powered smartphone for some time now, but an invite that Samsung India sent to Indian media suggests that the device could see the light of the day starting from tomorrow.
The content inside the invite read “14.01.2015. Come, Enjoy Samsung’s Next Product.”
Samsung has been heard talking about the launch of Z1, the first Tizen mobile OS powered smartphone since the second half of 2014, but due to unknown reasons the South Korean company has delayed the launch of the device.
Even though there is no mention of Z1 anywhere in the invite, according to BGR India, a Mumbai-based Samsung retailer, Mahesh Telecom, claims that Samsung Z1 units are set to arrive starting from tomorrow.
Mahesh Telecom has also provided that demo image of the upcoming Samsung Z1 along with a complete spec sheet, categorizing this new smartphone from Samsung in the budget level with average performance.
According to the leaked spec sheet of Samsung Z1, the device is powered by a Dual-core 1.2 GHz processor and is coupled with a 768 MB Ram. Interestingly, not many smartphones come with 768 MB RAM, the usual standard is 500 MB or 1 GB. The device has a 4 inch TFT touchscreen display with a pixel ratio of 480×800.
Coming to the camera department of Samsung Z1, it has a 3 MP primary camera and a VGA front camera. The camera allows only VGA recording at 15 fps, which is a major shortcoming of the device. In addition to the inbuilt 4 GB internal storage, Samsung has also provided a Micro SD expansion slot with a maximum storage capacity of 32 GB. Z1 also has all standard connectivity features such as Bluetooth, WI-FI, GPS and 3G. The new Samsung Dual SIM smartphone is backed up by a 1,500 mAh battery.
The price of Samsung Z1 in India is expected to be in between Rs 5,500 and Rs 6,000 putting it in the battle field along with Xiaomi Redmi 1S and Moto E, which have superior features under-the-hood.
