BENGALURU: Taiwanese computer hardware and electronics company Asus has launched a new netbook called EeeBook X205 in India with a price tag of Rs. 14,999.
Netbooks were popular in India before the advent of tablets and phablets in the market. Since the arrival, there was a steady drop in the number of NetBook users, not only in India, but also across the world.
Tables have now turned and tablets are currently at the receiving end, with its market share diminishing year after year. Sensing a change in the trend, Asus has decided to once again bring NetBooks back into the limelight.
The new EeeBook X205 sports 11.6-inch anti-glare display with a pixel resolution of 1366 x 768. It is powered by a 1.33GHZ quad-core Intel Bay Trial Atom Z3735 processor, coupled with 2GB RAM and Intel HD Graphics.
The EeeBook X205 comes with a 32GB storage in addition to a microSD card slot that supports up to 128GB of external storage. It also has a lifetime 15GB cloud storage in Microsoft OneDrive with an extra 100 GB for a period of two years. Also, Asus has offered an additional cloud storage capacity of 500GB for two years.
When it comes to the connectivity options of the new Netbook, Asus has provided two USB slots, WLAN, Bluetooth 4.0 and micro-HDMI port.
Asus EeeBook runs on the 32 bit version of Windows 8.1 operating system, which comes bundled along with one year Office 365 subscription and Bing. The Blue, White, Gold and Red versions of the device are currently available on Flipkart and it is expected to reach Asus stores starting from early next month.
