When Rahul Sharma, the CEO of Yu Televentures launched Yu Yureka in December last year, he had highlighted frequent OTA updates as one of the major benefits for users. He also promised that the device will be getting these updates at least for the next two years – this includes even the OS updates. He also boasted that Yureka will be the first cyanogen powered smartphone to receive the Lollipop update, which is expected to release sometime later this month or at the beginning of next month.

Yesterday, an unofficial Android Lollipop update for Cyanogen was spotted in XDA Developers forum that can be downloaded manually from its website for free. Yureka users don’t have to worry about losing the warranty of the device on rooting as the company has offered a root-free warranty for the device. But, it is advised that people with less technical knowledge about rooting, wait until Yu releases the official Lollipop update for Yureka.
