Will hire local employees.

WASHINGTON, DC: India’s Tech Mahindra Ltd. will build more technology development facilities in the United States and Canada and boost local hiring in an order to “tap new business opportunities linked to digital technologies,” the company’s chief executive told Reuters.
“We are investing heavily in building local delivery centres in the United States and in Canada. We’ve opened two in Canada and six in the United States over a period of the past six or seven months,” C.P. Gurnani said in an interview.
Gurnani explained that the company is investing heavily in the United States due to the data-hungry nation’s status as its most sizable market.
“We need to interact with clients at a much higher frequency and have more intense discussions between business, technology process and the market. That loop has to be faster and that’s why we need to be closer physically,” Gurnani stated. “This adds to our expenses, but I am hoping our clients understand the value that comes with it.”
The CEO declined to provide any details regarding the forecast for North American hiring, but a Reuters source disclosed Tech Mahindra is planning to hire about 100 new U.S. employees each quarter.
Tech Mahindra provides IT solutions and business support services to the telecom industry. The limited company, which is a part of the Mahindra Group conglomerate, is headquartered in Pune, Maharashtra and has operations in over 50 countries worldwide. According to the company’s investor report, it generated just shy of $3.1 billion in revenue during the 2014 fiscal year.
