BENGALURU: Motorola made the “exciting announcement” that it promised last week in the form of bigger Moto E smartphone with 4G LTE and improved processor.
The new Moto E will be available in two variants – one with 4G LTE support and the other with 3G connectivity. According to the announcement of Motorola, the new devices will be made available in countries like North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia. The 3G version of the device is expected to cost $119.99 and the 4G LTE will be sold at a price tag of $149.99.
Both the versions of the device features a slightly bigger 4.5 inch touchscreen display with corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and sports the same 540 x 960 qHD resolution with 256 ppi pixel density.
One of the major upgrades in the latest Moto E device is an improved 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 410 Processor that has a 64-bit chipset, making a move from the old Snapdragon 200 processor.
One of the biggest let downs of the old Moto E device was the lack of a selfie camera. Many Moto E users felt cheated as they took the selfie camera for granted because it has almost become a basic standard. In the new Moto E upgrade the Lenovo acquired company has answered the call of its users by adding a .0MP front camera. Also, the company has updated the rear camera of Moto E by adding autofocus feature.
The new Moto E runs on the latest version of Android Lollipop mobile operating system out-of-the-box with promise of regular patches and updates.
The device is backed up by a 2,390 mAh battery, which is yet another upgrade from the 2,080 mAh battery in the old version of Moto E.
Even though the rear camera and RAM remain to be 5MP and 1GB, respectively, the Motorola has added an expansion slot enabling users to add up to 32GB of memory in addition to the 8GB inbuilt.
In a separate statement, Motorola said they have added some software features from Moto X. “We’re introducing the next generation, packed with more features and functionality to give people around the world even greater access to life’s possibilities — without a hefty price tag.”
The device will be available in two different colors – Black and White but, users have the option to customize it using interchangeable Motorola Bands and Grip Shells.
As of now there is no official word from Motorola about when the new version will be available in India but like all other Moto devices the new Moto E will also go on sales via Flipkart. When launched in India, new Moto E will join the league of 4G enabled smartphones in the budget segment, which include Lenovo A6000, Yu Yureka, Xiaomi Redmi Note and Microsoft Lumia 638.
