BENGALURU: The Lenovo owned Motorola has sent invitations for an event scheduled for March 10, which could see the launch of second generation Moto E. The new Moto E is expected to cost Rs. 6,999, the same as its earlier version or a bit lower than that.
A new tweet that appeared on the official wall of Flipkart suggests that the e-commerce company might soon list the next generation of Moto E smartphone.
The second generation of Moto E device was launched globally last week in two variants – one with 4G LTE support and the other with 3G connectivity. It is still unknown whether the 4G version will be made available for the Indian market.
The new Moto E features a bigger 4.5 inch touchscreen display with corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and sports the same 540 x 960 qHD resolution with 256 ppi pixel density. It has an improved 64-bit 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 410 Processor compared to the old Snapdragon 200 processor in the earlier version of Moto E.
The new Moto also has a .0MP front camera, which is a new addition to the smartphone. Also, the company has updated the rear camera of Moto E by adding autofocus feature.
The device runs on the latest version of Android Lollipop mobile operating system out-of-the-box with the company promising regular patches and updates.
The second generation Moto E is backed by a 2,390 mAh battery; another upgrade from the earlier 2,080 mAh.
If the 4G version of Moto E is launched in India, it will join the group of 4G enabled handsets in the budget segment, which include Lenovo A6000, Yu Yureka, Xiaomi Redmi Note and Microsoft Lumia 638.
Motorola had earlier slashed the price of the first generation Moto E device by Rs.1,000, bringing the price down to Rs. 5,999.
Motorola sells three handsets in India — Moto E, Moto G and Moto X. The company had earlier unveiled the second generation of the Moto G and Moto X devices here.
