App claims to be ‘Tinder minus the poor people’.

WASHINGTON, DC: Is an Indian American behind a new dating app for rich people?
If you’re hoping to use your smartphone to score a hookup, and hope to be as condescending as possible while doing so, Luxy may be just the app for you.
“It works a lot like Tinder, except this is Tinder minus the poor people,” said Luxy spokesperson Darren Shuster.
The new dating service requires male users to make at least $250,000 per annum, which is verified by tax records, while women must be conventionally attractive.
“It’s sort of like that party you have in high school where the men get in for two dollars and women are free,” Shuster told CBS affiliate, KPIX.
Among the app’s current roster of users are “CEOs, professional athletes, doctors, lawyers, investors, entrepreneurs, beauty queens, fitness models and Hollywood celebrities,” according to claims made in an official media release.
Luxy determines matches by trawling through data regarding the material products users consume, which is asked for in the form of “their five favorite luxury brands.”
Users may then scroll through other profiles, similar to Tinder, tapping on the ones they like and swiping away those that aren’t up to snuff. If two users “like” each other, they’re then introduced for a chat via the app.
One quirk courted by Luxy is that the identity of its CEO is entirely shrouded in mystery.
The chief executive appears to be shirking the limelight due to the negative feedback his app has been receiving.
“As you might have guessed, he does get a lot of interesting email and phone calls from people that are unable to get on to this app and are unhappy about it,” he explained to KPIX.
When asked about criticism of the app being shallow, Shuster retorted with, “Well the response is, don’t join.”
