BENGALURU: After the overwhelming response for OnePlus One smartphones, the Chinese manufacturer is planning to launch OnePlus 2, a premium handset in 2015.
According to a report published by Business Insider, the company is excited about the way people accepted their maiden handset and this has inspired them to make OnePlus 2, which is touted as a premium smartphone with metal frames. There is no confirmation as of yet from OnePlus on whether the polycarbonate back cover of the OnePlus One will get a metal replacement in OnePlus 2.
However, if the company decides to go with a metal back cover it will join the premium class of manufacturers like Samsung who recently moved away from plastic to metal design with the launch of Samsung Galaxy S6.
On the other hand, the changes in the design and the obvious hardware upgrades could come at the cost of the users who will have to spend more money. This could be against the current strategy of the Chinese makers who mainly target the mid-range segment.
Hopefully, the start-up manufacturer will not increase the price of the new flagship device steeply as this could adversely affect the prospect of the company, which is fighting bravely against some of the top smartphone brands such as Samsung.
The launch of OnePlus 2 is not going to happen anytime soon as the company is planning it for the fourth quarter of 2015. Gadget enthusiasts will have to wait until then to zero down on the exact price of OnePlus 2.
