BENGALURU: Even as humans touch new heights in technology innovation, flying on wings remains one of mankind’s most cherished fantasies.
Now an organisation called Freedom Conservation has given new perspective to that fantasy. A team of conservationists recently strapped a camera on an eagle to show us a bird’s eye view of the spectacular vicinity surrounding Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
The eagle named Darshan, which in Hindi means “an opportunity to see”, was taken to the 160th floor of the 829-meter mega structure and then released.
The eagle, upon being released, made its way to ground level, manoeuvring in its majestic fashion from one of the biggest manmade structures in the world, registering a world record for the highest bird flight.
The whole event was part of the Freedom Conservation’s attempt to make people aware of the plight of the endangered species in our planet. Through this, the organization has reiterated that it is the brain of humans that helped us top the list of living creatures on this planet. Without a brain, humans will fall way back in the list and wouldn’t have achieved many feats that we credit our race. This entitles humans to give space to other living creatures, the organization reckon.
Jacques-Olivier Travers, the trainer of the eagle was quoted by Khaleej Times as saying, “I’m really proud of the bird. Today was really perfect. I really think that anyone who saw these shots will never think of eagles again, in the same way.”
The video of the bird making its way to the ground from Burj Khalifa is going viral on YouTube as more and more people ‘experience’ a fantasy from a hawk-eye view.
