MUMBAI: Indian fashion designer Rohit Verma, who has lent his works to Bollywood films too, was awarded the ‘Newsmakers Achievers Award 2015’ for best costume designer, in a ceremony at the Trident Hotel, in Mumbai.
Each year people from different walks of life are awarded with the “Newsmakers Achievers Award.” This prestigious award is recognition for hard work and dedication put into their respective field of work by individuals, be it social work, media, politics, spirituality, entertainment or art. Personalities who make India proud are recognized and bestowed with this honor.
The Maharashtra state minister of finance and planning, and forest departments, Sudhir Mungatiwar, bestowed Verma with the honor.
“I feel humbled to receive this honor and I thank everyone who’ve always believed in my art and have constantly supported all my endeavors,” said Verma.
Verma, who is originally from Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, finished his high school education from Boys High School in 1996. He has designed for many leading actresses in Bollywood, and also worked in the ZoOm TV show “Style Strip”, and in the Indian reality show “Bigg Boss”. Verma was featured as himself in Madhur Bhandarkar’s hit film ‘Fashion’.
