WASHINGTON, DC: After introducing the world to FBI trainee Alex Parrish in the first trailer for the upcoming ABC television drama, “Quantico,” actress Priyanka Chopra is back with another teaser for the anticipated series, in which she plays a half-Indian origin, half-Caucasian agent-in-training who is accused of orchestrating a terrorist attack.
The new sneak-peak, which is a mere 14 seconds long, reveals minimal information about the show while putting Chopra front and center. Sticking to the theme of the bare minimum, she is clad in nothing but an FBI academy flag and a pair of handcuffs while a voiceover says, “The FBI’s top recruit is now the world’s most wanted.”
Quantico marks Chopra’s first foray into American television, and the first trailer, which was generally well received by her peers and critics back home in India, heavily featured her character. While it was sexually charged to a degree, it also established Chopra’s character as a capable, strong-willed protagonist.
“It’s very scary, because I don’t know if the world is ready for an Indian protagonist,” Chopra stated during an interview with DNA India in regards to her jump from Bollywood to Hollywood. “When I did NFL, and ‘In My City’ was picked for NFL, it was the opening song after Faith Hill. Several racist comments came my way, that I am an Arab terrorist on social media and the NFL network, they had people writing to them. Because I was brown, they figured I’m Arab, and people were like, ‘How can you have her headlining an American event? Why is she in an all-American sport?’ So, I don’t know how people will react especially since I’m playing an American from India,” she remarked.
