BENGALURU: Since the first camera phone came to market, photography enthusiasts have wanted to get better, high resolution cameras in their smartphones.
Taking note of the fancy that smartphone users have for their camera, the Indian smartphone manufacturer iBall has introduced a new smartphone called Cobalt mSLR4, bundled with a range of lenses that give users control over what exactly they capture.
According to the official website of iBall, the new Cobalt mSLR4 is an entry level smartphone priced at Rs. 8,499 and comes bundled along with four detachable lenses, zoom lens with 8x zoom, a fisheye lens with 175-180 viewing angle, a macro lens with 10x magnification on objects at distance of 10-15 mm, and a wide-range lens with 130 degree viewing angle.
Sandeep Parasrampuria, director, iBall said, “The multiple options of the lens shall snap great pictures and change the way photographs are captured on the smartphones. It’s again heartening that we are the first in India to launch a product with this technology.”
Coming to the feature part of the Cobalt mSLR4, iBall has used a 5-inch IPS QHD display and the device runs on Android KitKat OS. The Cobalt mSLR4 is powered by an octa core processor coupled with 1GB RAM. iBall touts that the device supports 15 regional Indian languages.
When it comes to the camera department of Cobalt mSLR4, which is the prime attraction of the device, iBall has used an 8MP rear camera with dual LED and autofocus features. In addition, it also sports a 3.2 MP front camera with a soft LED.
The device has an internal storage capacity of 8 GB, expandable up to 32GB using external microSD card.
It also has all major connectivity features such as dual-sim, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi, 3G and USB. The new Cobalt mSLR4, backed up by 2000mAh battery, is bundled along with a pouch that contains four removable lenses and a lens cleaning kit. The smartphone is expected to hit stores across the country within a few weeks.
It is the first time in India that lenses are bundled along with a smartphone, that too an entry level one. Detachable lenses of different manufacturers are available on almost all online stores. These lenses are compatible for almost all smartphones and can be attached to the rear camera for getting better quality images.
