New camera after 9 years.

WASHINGTON, DC: GoPro, the company the made personal action cameras truly ubiquitous, has unveiled its first all-new camera in 9 years, and it is also the smallest GoPro to hit the market yet.
With a price point of $399 and available worldwide on July 12, the new Hero4 Session is half the size and 40 percent lighter than the existing Hero4 line of cameras.
The company hopes the Session’s smaller size and lighter weight will make it more attractive to many of the professional athletes it works with, and who shoot and share videos of their action-sports exploits, according to Fast Company.
The smaller size comes with a couple of concessions. The camera lacks the 4k recording capability found in GoPro’s higher-end models, and the battery is not replaceable or swappable, reported TechCrunch.
Another significant, albeit positive difference between the Session and other Hero models is that the new device has just a single button that is used to turn the camera on, enabling it to immediately start shooting video or photographs within one second of the apparatus being activated.
As far as audio tech, the Session was designed with dual microphones, a feature meant to minimize wind noise in recordings. The idea, a spokesperson informed Fast Company, is that the camera auto-detects where wind is coming from, and utilizes the microphone that will record better sound.
The gadget is also waterproof to 33 feet, so it can be used for underwater footage, reported CNN Money.
“I think it’s going to be probably one of my secret little weapons,” pro mountain biker Aaron Chase told Fast Company. “It’s a fraction of the size, and I can tuck that camera away even more than the original GoPro. I think it’s going to add another dimension. [A kayaker told me] he could put it one of the fishes’ mouths.”
