BENGALURU: After actor Shahid Kapoor and Lady Shiram College student Mira Rajput got married on Tuesday in a traditional Punjabi ceremony, which was attended only by their close friends and relatives, the first thing that Mira did was to rename her social media profile as Mira Rajput Kapoor.
Soon after their marriage, Shadid had posted a photo of both and tagged his wife via Instagram. Mira has a private account, but her name change can be visible to all users along with a couple of pictures of her along with Shahid.
Even though their wedding had only 30 to 40 guests, the evening wedding reception was attended by more than 500 guests. Fans of Shahid Kapoor, mostly girls who waited outside the Oberoi Hotel in Gurgaon despite heavy downpour, were disappointed as the du did not make an appearance to fulfil their wishes.
Only a few actors like Manoj Pahwa and Seema Bhargava, Pandit Birju Maharaj, and Shahid’s friends, designer Masaba Gupta, producer Madhu Mantena and choreographer Bosco attended the marriage function. The rest of B-town has been invited for the post marriage function which will be held on July 12 in Mumbai.
Since July 5th, when the traditional Punjabi ceremonies for the wedding began, Bollywood gossip websites have been publishing images and videos of the pre-wedding ceremonies including sangeet video and some inside pictures of Shahid-Mira wedding.
Interestingly, Kareena Kapoor, the ex-girlfriend of Shahid, had also changed her name to Kareena Kapoor Khan after marrying Saif Ali Khan. It seems like Mira wanted to make sure that she followed the Bollywood tradition of adding husband’s surname so that she is not considered a misfit.
