WASHINGTON, DC: A Russian senior citizen who is being investigated by police for her involvement in more than 14 murders may have cannibalized her victims after dismembering them, police recently divulged.
Tamara Samsonova, 68, was arrested in July on suspicion of killing 79-year-old Valentina Ulanova, cutting up her body and disposing of it in a pond. Surveillance footage reportedly showed the elderly woman carrying her friend’s remains in a black plastic bag as she attempted to hide the evidence of her crime.
A torso with one leg and one arm was discovered near a pond three days later.
Police believe Samsonova drugged her victim and cut her up while she was still alive following an argument over dirty tea cups, reported the Daily Star.
Diaries found at Samsonova’s abode list and describe a number of the “Granny Ripper’s” murderous escapades, some in mortifying detail.
“I killed my tenant Volodya, cut him to pieces in the bathroom with a knife, put the pieces of his body in plastic bags and threw them away in the different parts of Frunzensky district,” she wrote, according to The Sun.
The Daily Mail reported that she “had a penchant for gouging out and eating lungs.” A police source stated when asked if she was a cannibal, “It is not excluded.”
Appearing in court earlier this week for the slaying of Ulanova, Samsonova stated, “It was all done deliberately. With this last murder I closed the chapter.”
When Judge Roman Chebotaryovasked asked her, “I am asked to arrest you. What do you think,” Samsonova reportedly replied, “You decide, your honor. I am guilty and I deserve a punishment.”
