Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA) has named 113 doctors including 18 Indian-American doctors as Fellows for their outstanding accomplishment in the field of infectious diseases.
Dr Rajeev Soman of Hinduja National Hospital and Dr Tasaduk N. Fazili, an infectious disease specialist in Syracuse, New York, are among the prominent doctors recognized.
Other doctors include Pranavi Sreeramoju, Mamta K Jain, Teena Chopra, Anuradha Ganesan, Shirish Huprikar, Waleed Javaid, Indira Brar, Harrinarine Madho Singh, Naveen Patil, Sanjay Ram, Sanjay Revanker, Vidya Sundareshan, Ramesh Nathan, Mini Kamboj, Mohammed S Ahmed, Shyamasundaran Kottilil, Keyur S Vyas and Chirag Vasa.
The IDSA, one of the leading infectious diseases professional societies in the US, recognizes distinguished physicians and scientists from the US and around the world with its Fellowship program.
The fellows were nominated by their peers and met some specific criteria — continuing identification with the field of infectious diseases, national or regional recognition and publication of their work — to become the IDSA Fellows. IDSA Board of Directors reviewed and elected the nominees.
“Each one of these physicians and scientists has achieved an outstanding level of accomplishment in the field of infectious diseases and is a recognized leader in his or her community and institution, whether it be a hospital, clinic, research lab, or other setting,” said IDSA President Stephen Calderwood.
Fellows of IDSA will work in many different settings, including clinical practice, teaching, research, public health, and health care administration.
