With Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Silicon Valley approaching fast, more than 40,000 individuals have already registered for the community reception to be held on September 27.
For those individuals who still want to register, they have time till August 31, the Indo-American Community of West Coast has said. The event will be held at the SAP Centre in San Jose, California.
Registration for the members of the 500 community organisations was held prior to the individual registration as these organizations have joined hands to host the reception.
The organisers have expressed their surprise that more than 40,000 have already registered for the event. This number has surpassed the registration done for the Madison Square Garden reception in New York last September, which was 30,000.
After the registration process is completed, the list would be put to a computerised draw of lots to finalize the 18,000 audience at SAP Center. The number will have a fair representation of all Indian communities, organisations, age and gender groups, the organizers said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be attending the 70th annual session of the UN General Assembly in the US in September. This would be the second visit to the US as the Prime Minister.
