Nobel economist Milton Friedman said “There is no doubt, that the [H-1B] program is a benefit to their employers, enabling them to get workers at a lower wage, and to that extent it is a subsidy.”
You are cherry picking your data and missing the point. The important point is what these companies would have had to pay if there had been no H-1B.
Most H-1b visas are taken up by Offshore Outsourcing companies, these companies use the H-1b visa to remove millions of jobs Offshore. Why on Earth we are allowing our U.S. Federal Government visa programs to support the removal of millions of jobs from the United States is BEYOND ALL REASON.
Offshore Outsourcing companies sponsor, literally only a handful of people for a green card, yet each year they take most of the Visa slots and what’s worse – force a visa lottery. Thereby depriving our legitimate tech originating businesses reliable access to the H-1b visa.
Just kick the Offshore Outsourcing companies out of the H-1b system, make them use the free market (remember the Free Market, you know capitalism? ever heard of that?, not corporate welfare). It should have been done years ago.
The Offshore Outsourcing companies have internal policies to never hire an American, and instead turn to the H-1b indenturement visa for all of their U.S. hiring needs.
Our Federal Government, thanks the corrupt lobbyist Jack Abramoff, has created a 200 billion dollar Indian It industry, and jobless recovery in the United States. Will someone please close the screen door on the submarine?
