Dharmendra might have taken the back seat to watch his sons perform in Bollywood, but it seems like the Sholay-fame actor has inspired two hotel owners in such a degree that their new hotel is a tribute to the actor.
The new hotel named ‘Dharam Garam- Dhaba Te Theka’ in Delhi’s Connaught Place area incites old memories from Dharmendra movies as it has his famous dialogues and movie posters pasted on the walls, transporting the visitors to an era when the actor was in the peak of his stardom.
The hotel, owned by Umang Tiwari and Mickey Metha, is a real wonder for the visitors as it also has the iconic bike from Dharmendra’s most cherished movie Sholay in which he appeared alongside Amitabh Bachchan singing Yeh Dosti number.
Dharmendra during the inauguration said, “I had never imagined that I will have a restaurant in Delhi’s Connaught Place area and it will be named ‘Garam Dharam’. Over the years, I have got so many tags, from ‘Action Man’ to ‘He-Man’ and even ‘Garam Dharam’, for which I am thankful to everybody.”
Hotel ‘Dharam Garam- Dhaba Te Theka’ has the posters from Dharmendra’s popular films like Chupke Chupke, Dharam Veer and Sholay.
The actor confessed that he was a little worried about the idea of the themed restaurant in a city like Delhi, but he was convinced as he found the restaurant a convergence of the rural and the urban.
“Dhabas are usually found in the small by-lanes of big cities, so who would have thought that both, a dhaba and a theka will co-exist together in a place like central Delhi,” he said.
When asked if he will team up with his sons for a new movie, Dharmendra told reporters: “We are reading scripts as of now. Our first film together ‘Apne’ was a hit, but then the last film we did together, did not work very well. So we are reading scripts now, and we will work together soon.”
