The Japanese electronics giant Sony, which surprised the smartphone industry by launching the first ever 4K-display smartphone last week, today announced the arrival of Xperia M5 dual-SIM smartphone in India for a premium cost of Rs. 37,900.
The new smartphone from Sony is the latest iterant of the company’s water-resistant smartphone series with IP65 and IP68 certifications. Like other Sony flagship devices launched recently, the new Xperia M5 also has a capless USB port.
As of now Sony is releasing only the dual-SIM version of the device in the Indian market.
The most boasted feature of the new Xperia smartphone is its whopping 13 MP Selfie camera that comes with autofocus and full HD video recording. Adding to this the device also has an enormous 21.5 MP rear camera that is capable of recording videos at 4096 x 2160 pixels, which qualifies the 4K resolution standard.
The camera has a f/2.2 lens with a “hybrid autofocus” feature. It also has a 5X zoom with auto scene recognition, image stabiliser and other varied features.
The new Xperia M5 has a 5-inch HD display with a pixel resolution of 1080×1920. The new Sony smartphone is powered by a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795) processor clocked at 2GHz, coupled with 3GB of RAM.
The Xperia M5 also has a 16GB internal storage capacity which can be expanded up to 200 GB using a micro SD card.
Coming to the connectivity part of the Sony Xperia M5 Dual-SIM smartphone, the Japanese giants have enabled WiFi, Bluetooth and OTA in addition to 4G connectivity which has become a standard in the premium segment.
The new Sony smartphone runs on the customized version of Android 5.0 Lollipop and is backed up by a 2600 MaH battery.
Sony had announced the launch of Xperia M5 along with Xperia C5 Ultra in August even though the latter was launched in India last month for Rs. 29,990. Sony procrastinated on the release of M5 Dual.
