The U.S. Department of State has moved the dates for filing applications in the employment-based EB2 category for India backward to July 1, 2009. The dates for the third preference, EB3 is July 2005.
The retrogression, a major setback for tens of thousands of Indians who are currently employed in the United States, was announced in a revised October 2015 Visa Bulletin, which was released on Friday afternoon.
The dates for China have also been similarly retrogressed.
“Following consultations with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Dates for Filing Applications for some categories in the Family-Sponsored and Employment-Based preferences have been adjusted to better reflect a timeframe justifying immediate action in the application process,” the bulletin said.
It said the DHS will now “rely on this revised bulletin, rather than the bulletin published on September 9, 2015, when considering whether an individual is eligible to file an application for adjustment of status.”
The retrogression is considered a setback for those employees who have applied in the EB2 and EB3 categories. A statement posted on the website of Murthy Law Firm termed is “an unusual and highly disappointing move.”

Did you read recent NYT article on Toys R Us lay offs and then Disney lay offs, all of which were replaced by people from Indian companies! And here you are complaining just because there was some retrogression?
Where did you come from? Haven’t you or your parents replaced original Indians?
