A below par opening for the much hyped film.

The Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Shaandaar, has fared miserably at the box office, despite the hype behind it.
The movie, which released on the auspicious day of Dussehra, has failed miserably to attract audience to theatres despite the big publicity around the lead pair.
Shaandaar, which was expected to be a box office hit with the macho Shahid Kapoor and the bubbly Alia Bhatt appearing in the lead roles, could make only 11 crore nett on the opening day, which is way below what was expected of the movie.
The sluggish opening of the movie, that too on a national holiday, has shocked the crew as director Vikas Bahl’s second venture was supposed to be another hit like his successful movie ‘Queen’.
Shahid Kapoor, however, had the consolation of a new opening high in his career. Alia’s earlier movie “Two States” had earned Rs 12 crore on day 1.
According to reports, the highest revenue for Shaandaar came from Delhi, Mumbai and Punjab regions whereas it failed to find much of an audience in other states.
