Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is the latest from B-town to help people of flood-affected Chennai.
The actor has donated Rs. 1 crore to Bhoomika Trust, which has been actively involved in the flood relief activities since the day the calamity hit Chennai, beginning of the month.
A statement released on behalf of the actor read, “After seeing the shocking visuals of rain affected Chennai, Akshay wanted to help the people and in this regard he called director Priyadarshan, who in turn directed him to contact Suhasini Mani Ratnam.”
Following the suggestion of Suhasini, Akshay donated Rs. 1 Crore to Bhoomika Trust who have been preparing and distributing food items in the rain affected areas of Chennai.
The cheque of Rs. 1 Crore was handed over to filmmaker Jayendra, the managing trustee of Bhoomika Trust.
Last week, Shahrukh Khan and the team of his upcoming big budget movie ‘Dilwale’ had donated Rs. 1 crore towards relief activities in Chennai.
