A fast track court in Aligarh in the state of Uttar Pradesh sentenced a 45-year-old man, who had raped his 16-year-old daughter and abetted the suicide of his wife and three daughters, to 10 years in prison.
Vikky, a resident of Aligarh will also have to pay a fine of Rupees 15000 for the crime committed in 2007.
According to the prosecution, Vikky used to torture his wife and daughters every day. One day he raped his 16-year-old daughter and the incident led to the suicide of his wife and daughters.
Not able to withstand his torture, the mother poisoned her children first and then she consumed the poison herself.
Two of the daughters died on the spot. Some neighbors took the mother and one daughter to a local hospital and from there to a hospital in Aligarh.
The mother revealed the entire story to the hospital staff before she and her daughter died.
A local guard, Lakshmi Narayanhe filed a complaint at the Palam Mukimpur police station against the accused and the police registered a case under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) and 376 (rape) of the Indian penal Code (IPC).
“Vikky has been sentenced to imprisonment by the fast track court. During the investigations, the woman told the police about the deeds of her husband. However, when the accused was sent to jail initially, he got bail soon. The case was then transferred from the session’s court to the fast track court where this judgment was pronounced,” Maharaj Singh, the prosecution advocate said to The Times of India.
