India’s smartphone industry had a jubilant year as both Chinese and Indian smartphone makers competed to give customers feature-rich devices at the most affordable price. As a result of this, some of the premium specifications such as 4G LTE and octa-core processor started to feature in affordable smartphones, thus bridging the digital divide in India.
Here are some of the most searched smartphones on Google:
Yu Yureka
Yu, the subsidiary company of Micromax, started shipping its first smartphone named Yureka in January for Rs.8,999. According to google search trends, Yureka was the most trending mobile device on Google India in 2015. Yureka 4G is powered by a Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor which has a 64-bit CPU architecture, featuring integrated 4G LTE for the optimal performance with seamless communications and outstanding battery life. The octa-core processor is coupled with 2 GB RAM and an Adreno 405 GPU for faster processing of applications and heavy graphic games. The device also features a 16 GB internal memory with 12.5 GB usable space. This can be expanded up to 32 GB using external microSD card. It runs on Cyanogen MOD.
Apple iPhone 6S
The second on the list of most searched smartphone on the internet is Apple iPhone 6s. Even though priced almost five times that of Yureka, the upgraded version of Apple’s iPhone 6 received the second largest number of search from India. iPhone 6s is powered by the custom-designed 64-bit A9 chip that delivers performance in par with desktop computers. The device has a 12-megapixel iSight camera that captures sharp, detailed photos. It also takes 4K video, up to four times the resolution of 1080p HD video. Apple also introduced 3D Touch feature in iPhone 6s letting users do all kinds of essential things more quickly and simply.
Lenovo K3 Note
The third most searched smartphone of 2015 is Lenovo K3 Note. The smartphone was launched in March 2015 with features such as 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. It has an inbuilt storage capacity of 16GB expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card. The Lenovo K3 Note is equipped with a 13-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel front selfie camera. Initially priced at Rs. 9,999, Lenovo K3 Note offered superior performance when compared to other smartphones in the same range.
Lenovo A7000
Lenovo A7000, the company’s dual-SIM smartphone that runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop above Vibe UI is the fourth most searched smartphone in India. This smartphone from the Chinese maker features a 5.5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS display and packs an octa-core 1.5GHz (MediaTek MT6572M) processor with 2GB of RAM. The A7000 has an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front facing camera. The 4G LTE-enabled smartphone has an internal storage capacity of 8GB.
Moto G
Moto G made it to the top five most searched smartphone of 2015 even though the device is available only through its official online retail partner Flipkart. According to Google Trends, Moto G is the fifth most search smartphone in India. Moto G is a dual SIM smartphone with 5 inch 720p display and 1.2 GHZ Snapdragon quad-core processor. The phone sports 1 GB RAM and an internal storage capacity of 8 GB. It has an 8-megapixel rear autofocus camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front camera. The memory of the phone is expandable using a mircoSD card.
Micromax Canvas Silver 5
Micromax Canvas Silver 5 is the second smartphone from the house of the Indian manufacturer to get listed in the top 10 list of the most searched smartphones in India. The smartphone is powered by a 64 bit Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 Adreno 306 GPU coupled with 2GB RAM. The 4.8-inch display of Canvas Silver has high resolution of up to 1280 x 720 pixels and has a 16.7M color output. The smartphone has an 8MP rear camera, with a SONY IMX219 sensor, 4P Largan Lens, and a Blue Glass Filter.
Samsung Galaxy J7
Samsung, which ruled the Indian smartphone industry for some time in 2014, couldn’t replicate the same in 2015 as not a single model of the South Korean manufacturer made it to the list of top 5 most searched smartphones in India. According to google trends, Samsung Galaxy J7 managed to only make it to the seventh position despite its rich features. Galaxy J7 comes with 5.5 inch sAMOLED display, 4G, dual sim, and 13 MP camera.The company’s first affordable 4G handset is powered by an Octa-core processor coupled with 1.5 GB RAM. The device has 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front facing selfie camera.
Moto X Play
Moto X Play is the second model from the smartphone makers to get listed in Google’s most trending smartphones of 2015. Moto X Play is a 5.5-inch smartphone powered by 1.7GHz Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 615 Octa-core CPU, Adreno 405 @ 550 MHz GPU coupled with 2 GB RAM. The device can gave a battery back of over a day and has a water-repellant design. It has a 21 MP camera that takes stunning photos, and the full HD screen displays sharp images & videos. This 4G LTE enabled smartphone also has a 5 MP front facing camera.
Micromax Canvas Spark
Another smartphone made by the Indian manufacturer Micromax has made it to the the list of most searched smartphones in India. Micromax Canvas Spark, which is a dual Sim low budget smartphone was released o April 2015. It has 8 GB inbuilt memory and 1 Gb RAM. The smartphone is available for Rs. 4,999 Micromax Canvas Spark is the 9th most searched smartphone in India.
Lenovo A6000
The high-speed LTE (4G) supported Lenovo A6000 is a 5-inch smartphone powered by1.2Ghz 64-bit quad core Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ processor. The smartphone has an 8MP auto-focus camera with LED flash captures sharp, clear photos and video. This dual SIM smartphone has an 8GB internal memory. This 4G enabled device is the 10th most searched smartphone in India according to Google.
