Convicted killer of a baby and her grandmother Raghunandan Yandamuri, 30, who has been sentenced to death, returned to court today, on Tuesday, seeking a Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, judge’s permission to file criminal charges against the lead detective who investigated the crime.
Yandamuri, a citizen of India, was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to death by a jury in 2014 in connection with the Oct. 22, 2012, deaths of 61-year-old Satyavathi Venna and her 10-month-old granddaughter, Saanvi, after a bungled burglary attempt, in Upper Merion, reported The Times Herald.
Yandamuri argued Tuesday that he should be able to file a private criminal complaint against county Detective Paul Bradbury. Yandamuri alleged Bradbury, the lead detective during the investigation, committed perjury when he testified at various court proceedings against Yandamuri.
“He made inconsistent statements. Detective Bradbury contradicted his testimony,” Yandamuri argued as he referred to a binder filled with notes and exhibits he claimed supported his allegation.
Yandamuri implied trial judge Steven T. O’Neill was misled by Bradbury’s testimony regarding Yandamuri’s interrogation by detectives during the investigation and made various rulings based on misleading testimony, the Herald reported.
“We believe that Detective Bradbury was absolutely honest at every stage of the pretrial motions and at the trial in this case and Judge O’Neill’s decision and the jury’s decision back that up,” Deputy District Attorney Thomas W. McGoldrick responded to Yandamuri’s claims.
McGoldrick argued the evidence Yandamuri quoted in court was “taken completely out of context.”
Yandamuri filed the private criminal complaint against Bradbury with the district attorney’s office last year and prosecutors denied or disapproved the complaint, finding it lacked prosecutorial merit and that there was insufficient evidence of Yandamuri’s claims. McGoldrick argued prosecutors did not abuse their discretion.
Yandamuri represented himself during the hearing and he previously said he will represent himself in appeals of his conviction to the state Supreme Court. He had also elected to represent himself at his murder trial, questioning witnesses and making arguments to the jury.
In October 2014, Yandamuri was convicted of first degree-murder in the kidnapping and killing of Saanvi Venna and the killing of Satyavathi Venna, at The Marquis apartment complex in Upper Merion.
At trial, then First Assistant District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Deputy District Attorney Samantha Cauffman characterized the case as a kidnapping for ransom that went horribly awry. Prosecutors alleged Yandamuri, a neighbor to the Venna family, was desperate for money to repay a litany of gambling debts and targeted his victims with the kidnapping scheme because he believed they had money.
Yandamuri initially denied killing the victims but later allegedly told police that when he entered the victims’ apartment, he grabbed Saanvi, but dropped her during a deadly scuffle with the grandmother. When he could not quell the child’s cries, he stuffed a handkerchief in her mouth and secured it with a bath towel, according to the arrest affidavit. Yandamuri then placed Saanvi in a blue suitcase, according to trial testimony. The little girl was found dead Oct. 26 in the basement of the apartment complex, the Herald reported.

Giving death penalty to anyone whether the person committed the crime or not ,is not up to another person(s) to kill the accused and commit the same crime. Instead have the accused punished by life time prison sentenced.
But this eye for and eye, death for death, tooth for an tooth, hatred by hatred this only ends increasing more and more hatred on our earth. When are the human animals going to realize death is for everyone no mater what one belief or own . We are all in a death row majority does not know the day of the death and the others might know . Lets be kind to one another , be patient and show compassion for every one .
Majority of the time we look at people and get some sort of dislike ideas, however if one finds out that whole crowd of people were all family members ,immediately now you will have a different out look at the very same crowd.
One would be a hypocrite if one says that they definitely would like to marry a 400 pound person in discussion. However the reality is majority would not marry that person. But at any given while participating with an audience one would say all the kind words. But that very person most of the time would laugh at the 400 pound person and that is the truth. One must investigate, analyze on any thing then the result would be verified by oneself which would be based on facts and figures , don’t live as a programed computer, one must use ones mind which is the most powerful tool that we hold use it and think on your own .
Your too good human being in these world . I like our vision of seeing the things. I wish you all the happiness in the world
