An 18-month-old boy was killed by a businessman who ran his SUV over the child on account of his grudge against the father of the boy. The accused, Vishwanath Hulawale (38), crushed Devang Patil under the wheels of his SUV when the child was playing near his home.
The shocking incident happened in Kolivali village in Bhiwandi, Thane, Maharashtra state. Dayanand Patil, Devang’s father, is also a businessman and has some pending disputes with Hulawale.
“Dayanand and Hulawale had been neighbors. However, they fell out over a decade ago and Hulawale slashed Dayanand with a sword,” a police officer told The Times of India.
Reports say that Hulawale had attacked Dayanand earlier with a sword and after that incident Dayanand relocated and rented the house to his brother.
On Saturday, Devanand’s sister-in-law took the child home and the incident happened there.
A case of murder was registered against Hulawale under section 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The police have started an investigation to nab the accused who is on the lam.
