This year’s Valentine’s Day marked the beginning of a new life journey for six transgenders in Delhi as they tied a knot with their respective male lovers at Community Centre in Kashmiri Gate area, reported DNA.
According to the report, the unusual wedding ceremony was organized by an NGO called Space, which works for the rights of transgenders. After the wedding, the couples shared interesting stories that at last culminated in the marriage.
The report says, Ali Mirza and Janasheen, who were living together in Delhi for the last five years had a tough time convincing Ali’s parents to agree to their relationship. At last, Ali had to leave his family and loved ones to be with Janasheen, whom he met at a friend’s party.
Ali was quoted saying, “We also want to live like an ordinary couple. In the near future, we also plan to adopt a girl. We want that society should accept us and other couples should also tie the knot like us.”
Meanwhile, Ajay Sharma fell head over heels in love with Payal at first sight. Payal, who hails from Jammu and Kashmir, was quoted by DNA, saying, “In the early days, I thought that Ajay might also ditch me like other boys. But after living for two years with Ajay, I have full faith in him that he will be with me forever.”
She also added, “earlier, I used to dance with transgenders and then I started dancing in a bar. I know that hurdles will come in our way but we will overcome every hurdle. But I will continue my dance.”
The Executive Director of the NGO said to DNA, “In such cases, people ditch their transgender partners. At present, only six couples have tied knots that have full faith in their relationship. These couples also have a right to live their life. If their families support them then they can also live a normal life.”
