The World Mobile Congress (MWC) which is scheduled to kick start in Barcelona on February 22nd is an opportunity for leading smartphone brands to showcase their upcoming flagship devices to gain the consumer interest ahead of the device’s official entry into the market.
The pavilions of Chinese smartphone makers are expected to be thronged by an unusual number of visitors as they have made their presence in the smartphone markets in US and UK market with powerful yet affordable devices. Lenovo being one such company, it has big plans for this year’s World Mobile Congress.
Lenovo has announced the launch of the company’s latest flagship smartphone via official social media platforms with a caption “#KnockOut Coming Soon MWC 2016.”
The official twitter handle of Lenovo posted an image of the smartphone with the caption “A gorgeous new device has been engineered from scratch to deliver the #Knockout punch.”
Going by the looks of the smartphone, it seems to be an upgraded version of Lenovo’s recently released flagship device Lemon 3. The device was launched in January this year in China and it was robust with features such as a 5-inch full HD display with Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor. Lemon 3 had a poly-carbonate body.
The image tweeted by Lenovo of their yet to be launched smartphone, which could be named Lenovo Lemon 3 Plus, gives an impression that the device has a 5.5-inch display with a pixel resolution of 1080p. Even as there is no clue about the chipset used, rumors suggest that Lenovo might not have upgraded it from the old Snapdragon 616. Lenovo is believed to have improved the RAM and internal memory in their new smartphone with 3GB and 32GB, respectively.
Lemon 3 Plus will feature a bigger battery as the power usage for the 5.5 screen might drain the smartphone if equipped with the old 2750 mAh battery of the Lemon 3. Also, the Lemon 3 Plus will feature a 12 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0 and GPS. The device will run Android 5.1 Lollipop.
The tweeted image of Lemon 3 Plus smartphone has revealed that the device will have a metallic body rather than the polycarbonate material.
