Actor Shahrukh Khan took all of 28 years to receive his graduation degree certificate.
On Tuesday, the actor went back to his alma mater, Hansraj College, Delhi University, to receive his graduation certificate. The college principal Rama Sharma presented him the certificate and he signed the register after receiving it.
Khan was in Delhi for the launch of the title track of his upcoming movie ‘Fan’. He was accompanied by Maneesh Sharma, director of ‘Fan’, who too is an alumnus of the same college.
Khan recalled his childhood and college memories on the occasion and said he felt special coming back to the campus.
“This is a very special moment for me. I am back in my college, which I left in 1988. I am missing only one thing –my children are not with me today, as I wanted to show them every corner of my college,” Khan was quoted as saying by The Hindustan Times.
“We are very happy to present him the degree after so many years. We had kept his degree safely in our college. We are proud to bestow him with it today,” said the college principal Rama Sharma.
“What a beautiful day! Thank you university mates and faculty. Love to all for such a memorable emotional moment,” Khan tweeted later.
On another tweet, he said “‘Fan’ took me to Delhi, my younger days and today to my college. Thank you YRF and Maneesh. JABRA mazaa aayaa.”
Khan was a 1985-88 batch BA Economics student of the college. He was born in Delhi and studied at the St. Columba’s School and spent almost 25 years in Delhi before moving to Mumbai.
