In a shocking incident, a man killed his wife in Udhapanka village in Angul district of Odisha state after she refused to water plants in their farm land.
The police arrested the accused, Nilamani Majhi alias Control, 40, on Friday.
The heinous incident happened on Wednesday when the accused asked his wife Kabita to water potato plants in the farm land near to their house. She refused to do it as she had some other tasks to do. Angered, Majhi quarreled with her over the issue and hit her head with a stone.
“In a fit of rage, Nilamani lost control over his mind and smashed her wife’s head with stone. Due to the attack, she died on her way to district headquarters hospital. We had sent the body for autopsy,” Banarpal police station inspector-in-charge Suprasanna Mallick told The Times of India.
The police said that the couple used to quarrel with each other over petty issues.
The brother of Kabita filed a case against Nilamani on Thursday and the police have registered a case of murder against him. The police had interrogated the accused before his arrest.
The couple have two children, a son and a daughter.
