Ever since Facebook started, users get status updates and latest notifications within its news feeds. These updates are either happy, sad, funny or thought-provoking but unfortunately users had only two options, either to press the like button or to comment on it to express what they feel at heart.
Now, it seems like Facebook has finally heard the appeal of the users as the company today announced the launch of a new feature called Reactions, which will now enable users to express what they feel about the post through emojis.
Reactions is an extension to the Like button and it gives users more options to share their reactions to a post, easily and quickly. All that a Facebook user has to do is to long press the like button on the mobile app or hover through the Like button in the desktop so that reaction emojis such as love, haha, wow, sad and anger open up for the users to select.
There were reports that Facebook could be introducing “Dislike†button but according to the company after conducting several surveys and focus group research they came to the determine the types of reactions people would want to use the most.
The official blog of the company says, “We also looked at how people are already commenting on posts and the top stickers and emoticons as signals for the types of reactions people are already using to determine which reactions to offer.â€
According to the company, they have been testing the Reactions in a few markets since 2015 and the feedback they got was overwhelming. Now, Facebook says the feature has been made available for everyone around the world to use. It also said that over the next few years, after understanding the user needs, Facebook will introduce more reactions that will be useful for everyone.
