Priyanka Chopra, 33, is from India, where more than half of its people live below the poverty line, but at the Oscars, in Hollywood, California, Sunday evening, she was one of the most watched celebrities on the red carpet and as a presenter.
Most people who watched her were struck not only by the figure hugging white lace dress by Zuhair Murad she wore, but also by the resplendent diamond earrings and rings she sported, which cost an extravagant $8 million.
The Bollywood actress, who made her American television debut with ABC’s drama thriller ‘Quantico, which resumes its next season soon, presented the award for Best Film Editing to Margaret Sixel for “Mad Max: Fury Road.â€
The embellished gown by Murad, the style of which over the years have got the moniker “naked dressâ€, looked perfect for the curvaceous and beautiful actress and former Miss World. A simple hairstyle and make-up complemented her dress.
Many discerning celebrity watchers also noticed the glittering earrings on her ears and three rings on her fingers, all of which is estimated to have cost a total of $8 million. Only Lady Gaga, apart from Chopra, wore such expensive stones at the awards, with her jewelry also reportedly to the tune of $8 million.
Chopra wore Lorraine Schwartz jewels, including a stunning 50 carat diamond front back earrings that cost an incredible $3.2 million. On her hands, she had a 22 carat diamond ring worth $3.4 million, alongside a 10 carat diamond pinky ring worth $8,50,000 as well as an 8 carat diamond bypass ring costing $3,00,000.
Of course, once the Oscar night was over, Chopra had to hand over the rented stones back to Lorraine Schwartz. With a heavy heart, of course.

Chopra is in show business; it has nothing to do of her origin. Thus, when someone writes and point out that, “Priyanka Chopra, 33, is from India, where more than half of its people live below the poverty line†makes me angry. This is out of context remark and it is offensive. Don’t they have many poor people in USA? Don’t many people are homeless in the richest country on earth (and the country that plunders the rest of the world) as it is in poor India?
