Google India is making commuting inside big cities easier as the search engine giant today announced that the latest update of the Google Maps will come with an incremental update that will integrate a dedicated button for cab services in addition to the existing driving, public transport or walking option.
According to a Google official blog post, starting from today, the users looking for a location in Google Maps will be able to choose cab services offered by Uber and Ola to reach the destination, if they offer services in the city.
The blog post read “From today, if you’re looking for a cab service in major cities in India, you’ll be able to choose from Uber or Ola cab services”.
With the new Google Map update installed along with the app of the cab service, users will now be able to use the fare estimation and the pickup time if the car is available near the users current location.
When User customers will be able to choose cab services such as UberGo and UberX, Ola users can choose from Ola Mini, Ola Micro and Ola Sedan.
Once a user selects the service through the Google Map, he/she will be automatically redirected to the Ola or Uber app installed in the smartphone. The new feature enables Google Map users to request for cab service with one tap.
According to google, many users prefer to have commuting options, the time taken and the fare in one single app rather than using multiple apps simultaneously. This will give the freedom to compare the price and best route before setting off for the journey.
Currently, the new feature will be available only on Android platforms but google has confirmed that the feature will soon get its place in the iOS.
With the new feature made available to Android users, commuting in busy and traffic-ridden cities like Delhi and Bangalore will become easier. All that users need to do now is to type in the place of origin and the destination, and choose the best mode of transport.
