The wax figure of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be installed at the world famous wax museum Madame Tussauds, in London, Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok.
Calling Modi one of the most influential world leaders, the museum announced on Wednesday that it has decided to install the wax statue of the leader and the primary works are over.
“New wax figures of one of the most influential statesmen on the world stage, Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will be joining the ranks of world leaders at four Madame Tussauds attractions in Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok and here in London this April,” a statement published by the museum said.
“The figures will be dressed in his signature Kurta in cream with a jacket and he will be featured in a traditional pose making a namaste gesture,” it added.
Modi gave the artists of the museum a sitting at his residence in New Delhi earlier this year.
“Madame Tussauds has crafted figures of very distinguished dignitaries from around the world – how could I regard myself worthy of being alongside them? But when I was informed that your decision had emanated from public opinion and public sentiment, I was comforted,” Modi said.
“During my sitting, I observed the team carefully and was deeply impressed by its dedication, professionalism, and skill. I have visited Madame Tussauds three or four times and had the pleasure of getting myself photographed standing next to the figures of various dignitaries,” he added.
The museum established in 1836 has created the wax figures of many prominent Indians including Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai, Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit and Sachin Tendulkar.
“Prime Minister Modi is a hugely important figure in world politics, a position supported by his place in the top 10 of Time Magazine’s Person of the Year List 2015,” said museum spokesperson Kieran Lancini.
Each figure took museum artists four months and $213,812 to create.
“Guests will be able to stand shoulder to shoulder and measure up to one of the most powerful men in the world – and even grab a selfie when the figures arrive in their locations,” said the museum.
