A 49-year-old man was allegedly killed by his two sons after they spotted him molesting his daughters-in-law in Jharkhand’s Garhwa district.
Rinku Paswan, 24, and Chhotu Paswan, 21, beat their father Suraj Paswan to death and hung the body from a tree to make it look like a suicide. The police have arrested both and a case of murder has been registered against them on Monday.
The incident came to light when some neighbors found the body of Suraj hanging from a tree. They informed the police immediately.
Initially, the police also thought that it was a suicide. But the real story was revealed only after questioning Rinku and Chhotu who confessed before the police.
According to the police, the incident happened on Sunday night when the sons spotted their father molesting his daughters-in-law.
First, Rinku found an inebriated Suraj molesting his wife when she was sleeping in her room and warned his father not to repeat it.
“On hearing my wife’s cry for help I rushed into the room and chased away my father. I forgave him as he was highly drunk,” Rinku told the police.
Later on, Suraj started molesting Chhotu’s wife and the brothers, who lost their control, started beating him. They hung him from a tree after realizing that he had died.
“We thrashed him to teach him a lesson but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries. There was no intent to kill him,” Rinku told the police.
“The two sons have been arrested for killing and hanging their father when he attempted to molest their wives in a drunken state. With their confession, the murder mystery has been solved,” said Garhwa superintendent of police Priyadarshi Alok.
“The accused have told us that they did not plan to kill their father. But he died after sustaining injuries in vital organs. They then hanged the body from the tree thinking that either the police would think it to be a case of suicide, or suspect the involvement of outsiders. The victim had been in the habit of molesting the daughters-in-law, particularly when his sons would go outside the village for jobs. Both the accused were arrested on Monday,” said Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Nagar Untari), Manish Kumar.
