A 37-year-old man was charged with first-degree murder on Wednesday for dismembering a Washington woman and dumping her body parts in a recycle bin in downtown Seattle, reported AP.
John Charlton, the suspect is also charged with theft of a motor vehicle that belonged to the murdered woman.
“A charge of Murder in the First Degree was filed this afternoon against John R. Charlton, 37, who is accused in the murder of Ingrid Lyne, 40, whose partial remains were found in a recycling bin in Seattle’s Central District on Saturday,” King County Prosecutor attorney Dan Satterberg said in a statement.
The accused allegedly killed Ingrid Lyne, 40, a nurse and mother of three, dismembered her body and drove to Seattle where her remains were discarded.
Charlton remains in jail with bail set at $2 million. He is he is due to appear in court onApril 27. If convicted, he faces at least 28 years in prison.
The body parts of Lyne were found on Saturday when a Seattle resident who was bringing in his recycling bins noticed the extraordinary weight of the container. When he dumped out the contents, the body parts came out and he contacted the authorities.
The authorities have formally identified the remains. But the Charlton’s public defender said that there was no forensic evidence to prove his involvement in the murder.
According to Lyne’s friends, she had a plan to go on a date to a Mariners baseball gameFriday night with Charlton.
Lyne was missing when her ex-husband came to her house to drop off their kids. He then called her, but she didn’t attend the calls. Her ex-husband then contacted her mother and she informed the police.
