India’s Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) continued its arguments against the second bail application filed by former media baron Peter Mukerjea, stating that he was part of the conspiracy along with his wife, Indrani Mukerjea, in executing the murder of Sheena Bora.
“The calls between them were not good night, good morning. But the work done was being reported to him sitting in London,” CBI Prosecutor Bharat Badami said.
According to the prosecution, Indrani Mukerjea gave live updates about the murder to Peter just like a running commentary. There was a conversation for 686 seconds about how to execute the plan and the two had a 15-minute conversation at the time of disposing of Bora’s body.
During arguments, the judge wanted to know from the prosecution about the motive of Sanjeev Khanna, Indrani’s former husband, in the criminal conspiracy when Peter was also there.
The same day the court allowed the CBI to question Indrani again in the Bora murder case. The Deccan Chronicle newspaper reports that the CBI sought the court’s permission to further interrogate Indrani under judicial custody in the Byculla jail for four more days and judge H.S Mahajan upheld the request.
The CBI claims that everything was normal when Peter was under the impression that Bora was Indrani’s sister but things changed when he came to know that they were mother and daughter.
The CBI’s counsel repeated that the reason behind the murder was that there could have been property dispute if Rahul, Peters son from his earlier marriage, and Bora got married.
