The South Carolina governor was critical of the NY billionaire’s anti-immigrant rhetoric.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley may have made a belated attempt to warm up to Donald Trump, but the presumptive Republican presidential nominee hasn’t forgotten or forgiven the Indian American for criticism of him.
“No, not Nikki—no Nikki Haley, no,” Trump told Fox News’ “Special Report’ with Bret Baier” on Thursday. “She wasn’t under consideration.”
Back in January, in her response to President Obama’s final State of the Union address in January, Haley had chided Trump’s anti-immigrant rhetoric, pointing out her own background.
“No one who is willing to work hard, abide by our laws, and love our traditions should ever feel unwelcome in this country,” she said back then. “During anxious times, it can be tempting to follow the siren call of the angriest voices… We must resist that temptation.”
Haley’s stance had won plaudits from many.
In fact, there was speculation, as the Politico noted, that she would be among potential vice presidential candidates.
Alas, four months is a long time in American politics! With Trump now having steamrolled the opposition, Haley is not even in veep conversation.
The South Carolina governor had endorsed two of Trump’s rivals: first Marco Rubio in February, and after the Florida senator’s candidacy imploded, she backed Ted Cruz in March.
