The arrest of a 40-year-old man has resolved the mystery behind the murder of a 10-year-old boy and a woman in Hyderabad.
The Hyderabad police arrested Jitender Singh, who allegedly killed a boy and an elderly woman when they were sleeping at different places in the city.
The accused killed the two as they resembled his relatives with whom he had a clash, reported The Indian Express.
“It was his way of taking revenge; killing two innocent persons who for him resembled his sister-in-law and nephew,’’ an official told Indian Express.
According to the police, Singh, a bachelor, was living with his elder brothers and their family in Mangalghat’s Sitarambagh. His father died when he was a child and mother passed away eight years ago.
His older sister-in-law, Suchitra, didn’t like him and wanted him to leave the house and they used to abuse him.
On April 29, Jitender Singh quarreled with Suchitra and her son Durgesh and locked himself up in his room for two days. He left home on May I night.
After traveling 12 km on his bicycle he came across a boy who was sleeping on the footpath. The boy resembled his brother’s son Durgesh. Jitender killed him by hitting his head with a stone.
“He says that the boy reminded him of his brother’s son, Durgesh, although they both were of different ages. He stopped and made sure nobody was around, picked up a heavy stone and smashed it on the boy’s head causing his instantaneous death. It was about 3 am at that time. Then he simply cycled away from there. He reached the Red Hills bylane in Nampally about 30 minutes later and saw an aged woman sleeping on the ramp of Javeed Mansion, who reminded him of his sister-in-law. He searched for a big stone and bludgeoned her. Then he cycled back to his house taking long detours and went to sleep in his room,” an official told Indian Express.
As the incident happened in two different places, the police initially thought that both the incidents were not related.
The investigation team analyzed the CCTV camera footages they had collected from the areas, leading to the arrest.
