A top level executive of Encyclopedia Britannica committed suicide by jumping from the 19th floor of a flat in Gurgaon on Sunday, reported Times of India.
Vineet Whig, 47, was working as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of South Asia division of Encyclopedia Britannica.
The police have found a suicide note from his pocket saying that he decided to end his life as he is fed up with himself.
His body was found on the ground floor of the ventilation shaft by sweepers when they came for cleaning on Sunday morning at around 9 am. They informed the security guards and the family and the police was called immediately.
According to the police, Vineet Whig jumped into the ventilation shaft from the 19th floor. His footwear has been recovered from the floor. The police have decided to check the CCTV footage for further details.
“He left early in the morning for a walk but since he was a slow walker, his family assumed that he was still out on his walk when he didn’t return home. A security guard from the society told cops that he had gone to the C block on Saturday too. He probably was contemplating suicide since a day ago,” Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hawa Singh was quoted as saying by Times of India.
A passionate photographer, Vineet Whig lived along with his father, wife, two sons and a daughter. His father suffered a heart attack after hearing the news and is hospitalized now.
The police have registered a case and started an investigation.
