A 756-square-foot cottage in San Francisco is on the market for $779,000, a price for such a small property that would shock most Americans.
The cottage is located between Cortland Ave. and Bernal Heights Park, reported the San Francisco Chronicle.
To reach the front door of 164 Bocana St., you open a lattice wooden gate and walk along a brick path through a richly planted garden. Step through the door and you’re inside a cozy cottage dating back to the turn of the century. Then head out onto the back deck to take in sweeping views, and you’re reminded that you’re in the city.
This one-bedroom property was originally an earthquake shack, one of the tiny homes built after the 1906 tremor to house people who lost their residences.
Tax records indicate the home was built in 1909 but Valandra said it was most likely 1906.
