Apple CEO Tim Cook, who is on a visit to India, attended a private dinner party at Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan’s residence Mannat, in Mumbai, on Wednesday.
Several film personalities, including Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Farah Khan, AR Rahman attended the dinner, reported ANI.
“Thk u all for coming & making @tim_cook & his wonderful team feel the warmth & love of India.Mr.Cook, u r a rockstar!,†Khan wrote on Twitter on Thursday.
On Thursday, Cook announced the opening of a new office which will focus on the development of maps used in iPhones, iPads, Mac and Apple Watch.
“Apple is focused on making the best products and services in the world and we are thrilled to open this new office in Hyderabad which will focus on Maps development,†Cook said.
“The talent here in the local area is incredible and we are looking forward to expanding our relationships and introducing more universities and partners to our platforms as we scale our operations,†he added.
The technology major is also eying at the Indian market where Apple maps don’t offer services like 3D views, Public Transit system, options for shopping, coffee, restaurants, etc which are provided in the US, Europe, and China.
According to the official press release of Apple, the new office in the Waverock campus will provide a top notch LEED-certified home for expanding Apple’s Map team.
“We are honored Apple chose Hyderabad as a home for its Maps development office,†said Telangana Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao.
“This will create thousands of jobs here and is a testament to our proactive approach, quality infrastructure, and the excellent talent base we have in the region,†he added.
On Wednesday, Cook had announced its first iOS App Design and Development Centre in Bengaluru, that give developers access to tools which will help them create innovative apps for customers around the world.
Cook is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tata Group Chairman Cyrus Mistry and Tata Consultancy Services CEO N. Chandrasekaran, in upcoming days.
