A song of a 52-year-old Kerala woman, Jacintha Morris, has gone viral on social media and people are comparing the same with the works of Pakistani singer Taher Shah who has been making trends on YouTube with ‘Angel’ and ‘Eye to Eye’.
The song created by Morris titled ‘Is Suzainn A Sinner’ features three stages in the life of a woman Suzainn: the innocent childhood, the studious teenager, and daring old age. The ridiculous nature of the song is making people laugh.
“Suzainn strode bold like the models, cat-walked in high heeled sandals, golden curls bounced at her nods, and lay cascading around the face,” the lyrics goes like this.
Though the video has gone viral, Morris doesn’t know why people are so embarrassed with the song and comparing her with Taher Shah.
“I can’t believe people are comparing me to Taher Shah. Are they blind? I am a normal person who likes gardening, is interested in literature and want to do good things. But people are making fun of my voice, my singing. What is the world coming to?” Morris told Scroll.
Morris created the character Suzainn from her collection of poems titled ‘Bubbles of Realities’ published four years ago. She claims that she created the character based on the interview she did with 25 women.
“I knew many girls who were god-fearing. They were obedient. They would study hard and were innocent. But what happens to them after that? There is a drastic change in their 50s. Women become completely different. And the reason for the change? Men. Women are not getting mental, physical and monetary security in life and that is affecting them adversely,” Morris was quoted as saying by Scroll.
Morris has written eight volumes of short stories and poems in Hindi, English and Malayalam and she claims that she has won 16 awards for her works.
